Basic Name Search

Top  Previous  Next

The 'Basic Name Search' option of the Global Entity Search is useful for finding a specific entity, or entities with similar names in a refined manner.

How to use this option is explained below.

Basic (NAME ONLY) GES Search

This example demonstrates a simple last name partial search. The Basic search DOES NOT SUPPORT user included wildcards. They are not required.

GESBasicName1

This is searching for Last Name “RED” which shows all prefixed last names (on any words in the last name entry).

GESBasicName2

The same search lower down the list has the companies that match – this highlighted example shows how the second word has been selected for the match (but still prefixed by the search condition).

The search condition can be extended to include the first name. The format is {last name},{firstname}

To search only on first name include the comma eg. ,JOHN

GESBasicName3

The above is an example of a last name, first name search for last name “RED” and first name “JI”. The sequenced results are rated based on the matches returned. This means a zero rated result is more likely in many searches. This does not mean it doesn’t match; only that it is the last one in the sequence of matches ordered by accuracy rating or position.

The example below is for a company only search on last name.

GESBasicName4

In this example “RED” AND “LIM” give you a simple list.

For an individual add the first name and the search limits the results to individuals.

GESBasicName5

In this example we’re looking for a last name starting “RED” and an initial of “J”

A more complex search could be last name “SMITH” and first name either “JOHN” or “DEREK”

GESBasicName6

This could also apply to multiple last names and company names with a combination of words in the wrong order.
