Global Entity Search

The Global Entity Search or "GES" is a tool used to find any entity quickly from any area of the software. This feature can generally be accessed from the toolbar at the top of each module.

The general GES has three options for searching, these are: "Simple Wild Card", "Sounds Like" and "Full Text Search". The feature can be used as a filter or a 'snap-to entity' feature too, that is, that when you double click a searched entities name in the GES - the software will focus the user onto that entity in the grid.

Note however that this will only work if the relevant grid is open. For example, double clicking a 'Person' entity in the GES whilst having the Companies grid open rather than the standard enCentral CRM will result in nothing happening. Whereas double clicking a 'Managed Company' would focus the grid onto that entity in either the companies grid or the CRM.

Below is an explanation as to how each of the three search options work within the system.

Firstly: using the ‘Full Text Search’ or 'FTS' option.

Also, be aware that the ‘Full Text Search’ option also allows the use of ‘Or’ searching. That is, a search for ‘Red or Lock’ will find all entities containing the words ‘Red’ and ‘Lock’.

The FTS still also supports Asterisk searches.

“The Whale Watcher Limited” is presented in the results for “whale watcher”, “watcher”, “limited and whale”, “l* and whale”, plus partial matches with “wh* and limited”

The ‘Simple’ option also functions the same way the GES used to function and still supports the use of asterisks.

The ‘Sounds Like’ option is exactly that. Searching a specific word it will find all entities that can sound in some way similar to the word applied, so a search for ‘Whale’ will find entities such as ‘Whiley’, ‘Whole’ and ‘Wall’ with a more accurate Relevance than before (Whale entities will appear at the top).
