Workgroup Security

Workgroup Security is used to manage every function in the system and says if the members of the workgroup has security rights to use specific functions.

 

To modify any workgroup security settings you can open the security tab in enVisual and then click on the System Security button, pressing this button itself requires having sufficient security rights. When you press the system security button you will see the following screen.

As you can see, this screen has four different tabs, as far as workgroup security is concerned  we are only interested in the first three tabs, these three tabs are detailed below:

The Assign Group Security tab is split into two main sections, the Module Security section, and the Security Groups section, these sections are both detailed below:

 

The Module Security section is tree that has 4 different layers, the top most layer is each module, drilling down a layer takes you to the different areas of the module, drilling down again will take you to the different functions available in that area, and drilling down one more time will take you to a list of workgroups that can use this function.


 

The Security Groups section is simply a list of all the security groups in the system, this list can be used to give workgroups security to use specific functions in the system.

 

To give a workgroup access to use a function simple select the function in the Module Security section and select the workgroup from the Security group section, and press the add button marked with a <

 

If you would like to remove a group from a function, you can simple select the group in the list under the function in the module security section and the press the remove button marked with a >

The Check Group tab can be used to check which functions a specific workgroup can use. The Check Group Tab is shown below.

As you can see, this tab is split into two sections, the section on the left is simply a list of workgroups in the system, selecting a workgroup will change what is shown in the section on the right to corresponding to the current system security.

 

The section on the right side of this tab is a tree view, which show every module in the system, and if you expand a module, you will see all the areas of the module the selected workgroup has access to, then if you expand an area, you will see all of the functions in that area that the selected workgroup has security access to use.

The Check Users tab can be used to check which functions in the system the selected user can use. The Check User tab is shown below.

As you can see the Check User tab is very similar to the Check Group tab, as in the section on the left side, you can select a user from the drop down box, this will then list all the workgroups that the user is a member of. Selecting a user will update the section on the right side to show all the functions in the system that the user can use.

 

The section on the right side of this tab is a tree view, which show every module in the system, and if you expand a module, you will see all the areas of the module the selected user has access to, then if you expand an area, you will see all of the functions in that area that the selected user has security access to use.
