A Journal is a set of transactions, grouped together, commonly referred to as a batch. Entries in the journal browser are transactions which have yet to be posted to the Nominal Ledger.
The Header groups the transactions together under a set narrative. The Header also provides a running Debit balance and outstanding credit balance as well as an indicator as to whether the Batch is an "Auto-Accrual" and if so, the date on which this will occur. The icons down the left side of the window represent: Add, or create a new Journal batch Header. Edit, or Amend a Journal Header. Delete a Journal Header. Set the current Entity to default Post the Journal Search for a transaction using key fields, values and text. Refresh list Close (the Journal window)
To add transactions to a batch select the batch from the Journal browser screen. Now click on the Add button on the transaction screen.
This will display a further screen to allow you to enter the transaction details. When completed click on the OK button. You can now click on the Add button from the transaction screen to add another transaction. Repeat this process until you have added all the transaction for the batch then click on the close button. |
