When searching for a contact you need to go to the top panel and click on the magnifying glass, alternatively you can also press Ctrl+F to open the same window. You will find the GES in most modules within the enVisual system.
Clicking on this will open the GES. At the top of the GES you will see a search box, type the name you are looking for in there. After entering the name you are searching for ensure you have the correct search type enabled, search types include first name, last name, full name, contact. To search for company names we recommend using the full name option.
After doing this press either the 'enter' key on your keyboard or the search button in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Once you do this the window changes. You will notice names, and hopefully the person you are looking for, and green bars with percentages indicating how close a match the entity is to the searched name.
Once you have found the person you are looking for double click on their name. This will the open another window called Advanced CRM. The persons' contact you were looking for will be shown and any extra information will be at the right hand side.
Wild Card Search
• | This allows the manual setting of wildcards. By default Global search applies a type of fuzzy logic on the search criteria, which involved returning words that may sound like the search string. i.e Bin -> Ben. The option allows the user to determine if comparative searches are used or not. |
• | The comparison field can be specified. This allows you to specifically search for those entities based upon first, last or full name. Below is a example screen shot of the results returned searching on "Paul” as the first name with wildcard enabled. |
Wild Card Search also works in another way. If you are specifically looking for a name, i.e Ian, then the result will be in the first name, last name or system value. However if you are looking for a name containing ian and enter an asterisk '*' at the beginning of the name the search will look for contacts with 'ian' in the last part of the name. The example returns 'Brian' and 'Kaisserlian' for example.
If you put an asterisk '*' at the end of your contact name, example 'ben*' the search will come up with ben at the beginning of words.
and if you put asterisks '*' at either side of the example 'ben' the search will result in any contact that has that the letters 'ben' in it.
