As the service is running summary generation against Microsoft Office products it will need a version of office installed to open the file for checking. Because of how the application linking works within the office component, additional settings must be configured within the components once installed.
This section advises how to configure this for efficient use:
1. | Install Microsoft Office in the normal manner (version 2007 onwards) |
2. | Confirm working correctly and usable on the Machine. |
3. | Dependant on the version of Windows and office installed this configuration tool could be in one of two locations |
a. | To find the version of Windows being used please open the control panel > system as this advises clearly to the version bit level. To find the version of office used please open word and select the help/about option as this should show the version bit level. |
b. | For a machine running a x86 (32 bit) version of Windows and office then the tool can be found in the control panel. |
Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Component Services
c. | For a machine running a x64 (64 bit) version of Windows and office then the tool can be found in the control panel. |
Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Component Services
d. | For a machine running a x64 (64 bit) version of Windows and a x86 (32 bit) version of office the sysWOW64 version of the tool must be ran |
%system drive% > Windows > sysWOW64 > comexp.msc
4. | Now browse through the component services settings to the Microsoft Products that you intend to use through the service and modify the security using the right click menu as advised in the following steps |
a. | The main office applications are shown in the picture below |
5. | Each one of the listed or required components will need the security setting changing to support the service correctly. |
6. | Right click on the service and select properties |
7. | Please open the security tab and modify the “Access Permissions” |
8. | Please make sure that the user that the service runs under has access permissions to run this component. |
9. | Please now select the main identity tab and set the option for “The interactive user”. |
10. | Please apply the above changes to all office components that you plan to use through the AutoDocs service. |
